Wildlife Issues and Services in Truckee

Gold Country Wildlife Control is dedicated to managing the diverse wildlife challenges in Truckee, a town known for its rich natural surroundings and active outdoor lifestyle is home to all kinds of nuisance wildlife encounters.  While certainly everyone talks about the bear break ins and how the coyote population has gone crazy in the last few years, Truckee homeowners are more commonly bothered by squirrels, chipmunks, bats, and mice.

Rodent Populations: Truckee and all around Lake Tahoe have over a dozen rodent species regularly found, including golden-mantled ground squirrels, chipmunks, flying squirrels and pack rats. These rodents often invade homes, particularly during colder months, causing property damage and health risks.

Bat Exclusion: Big brown bats are the most frequently found species roosting and hibernating in attics and ceiling spaces.  Many homes in Truckee, particularly the Tahoe Donner neighborhood do not have attics as the ceilings are vaulted.  Bats do live in vaulted ceilings, and often times droppings may be found underneath the peaks.

Environmentally Friendly Methods: We prioritize humane and eco-friendly methods, avoiding poisons and harmful chemicals. Our approach includes humane trapping, exclusion techniques, and thorough property inspections to prevent future issues.  We care about protecting our lakes, rivers, and wildlife.
